Guest House AL PORTICO is located in a very central and easy to reach location at few steps from Sansovino's Vendramin Calergi Palace, the nice CASINO of Venice, on the main street "Strada Nuova", which connects the rail station to the famous Rialto bridge. Our rooms are nice and quiet, clean, all with private bathroom. We have a room with a private terrace and also a common terrace with tables and chairs at the third floor, with sight over the roofs, where you can get a tan during the summer day or relax with a glass of wine in the evening. And at the ground floor, you can find a little courtyard, very relaxing and comfortable.

Our Locanda is at 70 meters from the public transport stop (on the Grand Canal) of S.Marcuola; so you can get here without problems taking the "vaporetto" (the public boat service) or by water taxi, from every place of the city (and from the airport).

The historical venetian Jewish Ghetto, with its museum, is only 120 meters from here. The Madonna dell'Orto Church, which keeps many works by Tintoretto and other painters, is at 7 minutes from here by walk.

You can reach every place of the city from here: museums and monuments in S.Marco, the glass island of Murano, the beaches at the Lido taking the water bus at the Grand Canal, and...all those less crowded and quite places of the "minor" Venice, that try to hide themselves, just here around the corner...

By plane
From the Venice-Tessera "Marco Polo" airport you can reach our Guest House "Al Portico" by water taxi (a little expensive), or you can get the direct "Venice Air Terminal" bus, arriving in Piazzale Roma in about 20 minutes. From there, you can get the no. 1 "vaporetto" (public boat service) and get off at the San Marcuola stop.
By car
You can park your car at Piazzale Roma (the car terminal in Venice), then you can get the no. 1 "vaporetto" (boat public service) and get off at the San Marcuola stop.
By train
From the railway station you can reach our Guest House "Al Portico" on foot by following the main street at the left of the station, called Lista di Spagna. You walk for about 150 meters, cross the Ponte delle Guglie bridge, walk for another 100 meters until you find on the right a green newspaper kiosk, pass it turning around it and we are around the corner on the left, after the restaurant "La Colombina", the number on the door is 1804. But you can also get the water taxi (expensive) or you can get the no. 1 "vaporetto" (boat public service) and get off at the San Marcuola stop.
Now, when you are at S.Marcuola:
1) go ahead until you reach the wall (about 40/50 steps).
2) Go left
3) take the first "calle" (calles are the typical narrow streets of Venice) named "Calle Seconda del Cristo" to the right.
4) Go ahead until you reach the wall.
5) Go right and straight on inside the portico ("Sottoportico del Pegolotto"), the number on the door is 1804. About 2 minutes to get there from S.Marcuola.
